Barberry Mitts
|
I was enchanted by some yarn I found from Handwerks, a delicious merino/cashmere/nylon blend that called to me in the Chokeberry colourway. My love of leaves and lace led me down the garden path to further inspiration from the Barberry, a delightful bush with short oval leaves.
These mitts are intermediate in difficulty, using two lace charts and a lace ribbing. The solid palm provides a little extra protection for your hands.

Snow Scallops
|
I love the sea. I grew up on the West Coast and spent all my summers on Vancouver Island. I have seen some lace designs that mimic waves and fish but I wanted something a little more abstract. If you look closely, you can see the kelp, the seaweed and the scallops. Sometimes you want a scarf, sometimes something a little more substantial. What I have done is taken the design idea and done the math for you to achieve a size that you want with similar but not identical designs.
